St Peters Bay
Located on the Points East Coastal Drive, on the Island’s north shore, St. Peters Bay is your gateway to Eastern Prince Edward Island. With outdoor adventures, tours, shopping, theatre, cycling, history, culture and culinary experiences, St. Peters is a must stop on any visit to Prince Edward Island.
St. Peters Bay has a rich history. Aboriginal artefacts found in the area date back about 8000 years. French settlement began here in the early 1700s and lasted until the English conquest of the area in 1758. Today, this small village at the head of St. Peters Bay, often simply referred to as “the Bay” by locals, has five buildings on the registry of historic places of Prince Edward Island.
St. Peters Bay has lots to offer visitors and locals alike. While here, check out the retailers at St. Peters Landing or visit one of our local restaurants Walk or bike along the Confederation Trail, which passes directly in front of the Courthouse Theatre. The Greenwich adjunct to the Prince Edward Island National Park is a few minutes away, with its interpretive centre, beach and trails.
If you are here in early August, be sure to check out the St. Peters Blueberry Festival events.
When you visit the Courthouse Theatre, make sure you ask about the ghost of “Effie” who use to wave to every train that ran through St. Peter's Bay.
